
| Club ride etiquette: • Arrive early - Rides start no more than 5 minutes late. • Make sure your bike is in proper working order before you arrive. • Bicycle helmet are mandatory on all BBC sponsored rides. • Obey all traffic laws and practice safe bicycling. • Those who ride ahead of the group are on their own ride; notify the ride leader before leaving the group. • Ride leaders should stay with in the advertised ride classification. • In the event of questionable weather or road conditions, contact the ride leader. • Each rider assumes his/her own risk on all rides. • Children under 18 years of age must be either accompanied by parent/guardian or provide parental consent at the discretion of the ride organizer. • Do not "bike off" more than you can do. Go on rides within your ability, interest, and experience. If you are in doubt, call the ride leader, or try to ride one class below the one you are not sure of and work your way up. • The public is welcome but must observe all club, traffic, and bicycle safety rules. Ride Classifications Ride Classifications: All club rides are rated according to pace and degree of difficulty. A minus (-) after the ride class indicates the lower end of the class scale; a plus (+) indicates the upper end of the class. Subtract 05 - 1 0 mph from suggested pace if ride is very hilly. Ride pace is based on Average Moving Speed. Road ride classifications: D/G Social 7 - 10 mph: For all ages, just right for beginner, and families. Has frequent stops and will wait for all riders. Ride lengths are between 10 to 20 miles; longer distances are possible. C Touring 10 - 13 mph: For the average rider. Rest stops are as needed and ride leader must wait for riders. Any distance B Expert 13- 17 mph: For experienced and stronger riders. Rest stops are at the discretion of the ride leader. No obligation to wait if cue sheets or maps are provided. Any distance A Advanced 17+ mph: For very strong riders, rest stops at discretion of ride leader. Will not wait for stragglers. Any distance Mountain Bike classifications: XC Beginner: slower pace, less technical trails. XB Intermediate: moderate pace, technical trails. XA Expert: fast pace, technical trails.
